Drawing Resymbolization Rules Manager

Used to create, manage, and apply Structural Drawing Rules that determine how objects or sets of objects are depicted in drawings.

Accessed from:
  • Backstage: File > Settings > Building > Structural Rules


For Structural discipline users, this dialog displays the structural resymbolization rules as well.
SettingDescription
Rules display list Available drawing rules are listed in the two resizable columns. Use the Show controls to filter the rules list.
  • Rule Name column — Within the Rules Manager list box, displays the saved rules names.
  • Description column — Within the Rules Manager list box, displays the saved rules descriptions.
  • Show: — Option menu that lets you specify the display.
    Options are:
    • All drawing rules – If on, the display will include all drawing rules.
    • Top/Side resymbolization rules – If on, the display will include only the resymbolization rules that apply to top and side views.
    • Footprint resymbolization rules – If on, the display will include only the resymbolization rules that apply to the footprint graphics.
    • Top/Side annotation rules – If on, the display will include only the annotation rules that apply to top and side views.
    • Footprint annotation rules – If on, the display will include only the annotation rules that apply to the footprint graphics.
Dialog button controls Button controls are used to manipulate the selected rules.
  • OK — Saves newly created or edited rules and closes the dialog.
  • Cancel — Discards any changes you made and closes the dialog.
  • New... — Opens the Structural Drawing Resymbolization Rule dialog. There you will be assigning the name and the description to the rule.
  • Copy... — Opens the Structural Drawing Resymbolization Rule dialog. There you will be naming the rule differently before it can be saved.
  • Edit... — Opens the Structural Drawing Resymbolization Rule dialog. The selected rule gets saved for edits made to rule symbolization.
  • Delete — Removes the rule from the list after confirming an alert.
